The head of the Indian Space Research Organisation, Sridhara Somnath, announced on September 27 that the organisation had produced equipment for the planned expedition to Venus that the space agency will carry out.
ISRO is currently working on a significant number of mission concepts. During his talk at the Indian National Academy of Sciences in Delhi, he shared that the expedition to Venus has already been configured and that payloads have been developed specifically for it.
According to Somnath, Venus is an “interesting planet,” and he believes that exploring it will help answer some of the issues raised in space science. Nevertheless, he did not provide any concrete information regarding the initiation of the mission to this heavenly body’s destination.
On the other hand, Somnath said that they intended to launch a research station on Venus in 2024, the year in which the locations of Earth and Venus would be most favourable for a mission of this nature. This announcement was made in the previous year. It was expected that the station would arrive in Venus orbit in the year 2025.
The head of the Indian space agency also mentioned that if India could not launch the mission to Venus in 2024, the next favourable alignment for station launch wouldn’t occur until 2031. This was one of the statements that the head made.
