A unified Russian display is being organised by the Rosoboronexport unit of the Rostec State Corporation in preparation for the Aero India 2023 International Aviation and Space Exhibition, which will take place at the Yelahanka Air Force Base in Bangalore, India, from February 13 to 17.
Aero India is one of the largest air exhibits in the world, and Rosoboronexport is a frequent participant there. The Russian exhibit for the air force and air defence products stands out for its size and quantity at this event. Alexander Mikheev, General Director of Rosoboronexport, stated that the exhibition provides a good opportunity to showcase Russian products and explore areas of future bilateral collaboration with India. Rosoboronexport represents approximately 200 pieces of Russian-made armaments and military equipment in India. These pieces include the impressive fifth-generation Su-57E multirole fighter, the Checkmate light tactical aircraft, the Il-76MD-90A(E) military transport aircraft, the Il-78MK-90A, and the super-manoeuvrable Su-35 and Su-30SME fighters, as well as the MiG-35D multifunctional front-line fighter.
As part of the initiative known as Make in India, Rosoboronexport will host a demonstration of the Ka-226T light multi-purpose helicopter. Production of this helicopter is scheduled to begin on the Indo-Russian Helicopters Limited joint venture, which will involve the participation of industrial businesses from both Russia and India.
Visitors to Aero India 2023 will be able to view an extensive collection of Russian military helicopters built to carry out a wide range of roles. Among these are the most recent iterations of combat helicopters like the Ka-52E and Mi-28NE, as well as military transport helicopters like the Mi-171Sh, which are currently in the highest demand on the international market and in the Asia-Pacific region.
Russian unmanned aerial vehicles will also be among the exhibits, including the reconnaissance and strike Orion-E, the reconnaissance Orlan-10E, and the Orlan-30, an innovation from 2022.
In the section of the exhibition dedicated to air defence, Rosoboronexport showcases the whole gamut of weaponry that may be utilised either on its own or as a component of a more complex layered air defence system. Anti-aircraft missile systems such as the S-350E Vityaz, the Viking anti-aircraft missile system, the Tor-M2KM and Tor-M2E anti-aircraft missile systems, and the Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and artillery system are on display at the Russian pavilion. In addition, the company will make portable anti-aircraft missile systems such as Igla-S and Verba available.
