DRDO participated with Indian weapon systems at Army 2020 event in Moscow

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) participated in the Army 2020 exhibition event in Russia which was held from 23 – 29 August 2020. The Army 2020, is the 2020 edition of the annual event ‘International military-technical forum’ organized by the Military Science Committee of the Russian Federation Armed forces. Army 2020 was organised at the Patriot Convention and Exhibition Centre, Kubinka Air Base, Moscow.

DRDO was a part of the India Pavilion along with the state-owned Defence Industries including Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) and Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML).

DRDO participated with eleven products including the Beyond Visual Range Air to Air Missile ‘ASTRA’, Anti Tank Guided Missiles ‘NAG’ and its air-launched version ‘HELINA’, Ground-Based High-Performance Mobile Electronic Intelligence (ELINT) Systems, Weapon Locating Radar ‘SWATHI’, Air Defence Fire Control Radar ‘ATULYA’, Advanced Towed Artillery Gun Systems ‘ATAGS’, Main Battle Tank ‘ARJUN MBT MK1A’, Submarine Sonar Suite ‘SMSX’, Low-Frequency Dunking Sonar ‘LFDS-X’, and Torpedo Advanced Light ‘TAL’. These eleven products are being offered for exports by the Indian government as a part of its export push.

The Naval Physical & Oceanographic Laboratory (NPOL) also participated in the event with SMSX, LFDS-X, LFD-X and TAL as the Russians created a naval cluster within the forum for the first time.

DRDO contingent was led by the Group Director of Technology Management and included representatives from NPOL,  Combat Vehicles Research & Development Establishment (CVRDE)  and the Defence Research & Development Laboratory (DRDL). 

The India-Russia joint venture missile BrahMos was also on display.

The Indian contingent to the exhibition was led by the Secretary, Defence Production. The Indian ambassador to Russia, DB Venkatesh Verma also visited the exhibition.
