Indian Twitterati mocks PM Modi ‘Howdy Modi’ after Trumps defeat

The US election 2020 was widely followed by the Indian’s and the results have enthused the liberal patriots and a blow to the right-wing nationalists. Soon after the news of Joe Biden led Democrats receiving the highest votes, the Indian Twitterati started trending “HowyModi” with some asking “how is the josh?” Howdy Mody and Nameste Trump are events organised by the Bharatiya Janta Party during the peak of PM Narendra Modi’s popularity and Donald Trump was the chief guest in both of them. During the event, PM addressed over fifty thousand people at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.

Howdy Modi event was held in the United States at an estimated cost of Rs 1.4 lakh crore and Namaste Trump cost approximately Rs 130 Crore and massive Corona Virus cases in India.  

During the Howdy Modi event in 2019, PM Modi endorsed Trump with the India diaspora in the US. He said “The words of candidate Donald Trump, Abki Bar Trump Sarkar’ (This time Trump Government).

The Twitterati has also pointed out that most of the key world leaders whom PM Modi has hugged have not returned to power. The list includes Donald Trump, David Cameron, Stephen Harper and Tony Abbott. Two others Vladimir Putin and Shinzo Abe have reported sick. The Chinese President Xi Jinping has gone ahead and grabbed a large part of Indian territory and emerged stronger.

Some of them termed Trump’s defeat as PM Modi’s electoral defeat. “For Modi, US is the 4th defeat since 2019 win, after Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Delhi,” wrote a Twitter user.

The right-wing nationalist supporters have come into the defence of PM Modi. “Few xxxxx have started daydreaming that Modi will also lose 2024,” wrote PM Modi supporter. Indian and US voters are different argued another. 

Meanwhile, PM Narendra Modi has congratulated Joe Biden for winning the US Presidential elections 2020. “Congratulations @JoeBiden
on your spectacular victory! As the VP, your contribution to strengthening Indo-US relations was critical and invaluable. I look forward to working closely together once again to take India-US relations to greater heights,” he wrote.
