At the Met Gala, the rewowned gala concert that profits the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the US fashion actress, popular reality show participant and model, Kim Kardashian wore a Marilyn Monroe dress.
The unique dress was created by fashion designer Jean Louis from the finest flesh-coloured silk fabric adorned with many crystals and this outfit is of great historical importance as it was in it that Monroe congratulated US President John F. Kennedy on his birthday.
The rarity literally could not withstand the onslaught of the forms of a modern star.
The museum staff, where the famous dress is kept, assured that the unique outfit was not damaged during the short time that Kardashian spent in it as she soon changed into its exact copy, which suited her more in size.
But the historian and collector Scott Fortner, who owns a huge private collection of Monroe’s things, noted with bitterness that the dress was damaged and quite badly – the seams parted in places, and only threads remained from some decorative ornaments.
Kardashian herself claims that she had to suffer a lot to get into the cherished dress – she lost seven kilograms and did not have dinner on the eve of the celebration.
Apparently, it didn’t help. At least on the red carpet, the diva appeared in a dress that was covered with a fur coat at the back.
Kim shouldn’t have worn this dress in the first place. It was an eternal and iconic artefact, which, alas, is now corrupted,” social media users commented on the incident.
