A 33-year-old man has been detained for reportedly assaulting and abusing the women sarpanch of a village in the Pune district.
On Friday morning, the incident occurred during a brawl at a vaccination centre in the village.
The accused was involved in a brawl with another individual at a vaccination centre set up in a school. The accused allegedly slapped her and abused her when the sarpanch interfered to settle the quarrel. The individual has been charged with violating sections 354, 323, 504 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code.
However, the accused has filed a cross-complaint alleging that he was beaten up at the vaccination centre, resulting in the police station lodging a non-cognizable offence.
The accused was initially arrested but was later released on bail.
