“Blonde” – one of the most anticipated films of 2022, telling the imaginary life of Marilyn Monroe, will go on Netflix on September 23, AFP reported, citing the streaming platform.
The main role is played by the Cuban-Spanish actress Ana de Armas. The movie “Blonde” is based on the novel of the same name by Joyce Carol Oates, published in 2000. The movie makers allow themselves certain narrative freedoms, with special emphasis on Marilyn Monroe’s relationship with her husband and lovers.
The Director and screenwriter of “Blonde” is Andrew Dominic (“The Murder of Jesse James by the Bastard Robert Ford”). The cast includes Adrian Brody as playwright Arthur Miller, Bobby Cannavale, Sarah Paxton, Julian Nicholson, and Toby Huss. Among the film’s producers is Brad Pitt.
“Blonde” failed to find a place in the official selection of the Cannes Film Festival, as the rules exclude from the competition program films that are not released in cinemas in France.
In the United States, the film will be banned for people under the age of 17 because of sexual scenes. The American streaming giant is betting on some of the biggest names in cinema in 2022 to continue to assert its Hollywood status.
This year, Netflix faced an unprecedented drop in subscribers for the first time in over a decade.
