Nitish Kumar demands inquiry on Pegasus espionage case; Opposition cornering the Modi government

Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has demanded an inquiry in the Pegasus espionage case. The opposition now has the support of Bihar’s CM and NDA ally Nitish Kumar amidst the ongoing uproar in Parliament over the spying issue.

Earlier when Nitish was questioned about the Pegasus espionage matter, he called it useless and said that it is not something worth disturbing anyone. He said that this is wrong, it’s all dirty talk and all rubbish.

The non-BJP state governments have surrounded the central government on this issue. West Bengal’s Mamata Banerjee government has set up a commission to investigate the Pegasus espionage case. Apart from this, the Bhupesh Baghel government has also constituted a commission in Chhattisgarh.

On the other hand, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and Hyderabad Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi has accused the Modi government of running away from the discussion over the Pegasus espionage case. The AIMIM leader has asked what is the Modi government trying to hide by not discussing the Pegasus issue.

The monsoon session of Parliament began on July 19, but due to the demand of the opposition to investigate the Pegasus issue and the government not agreeing to it, there has been little debate in the Parliament.

Due to the standoff between the government and the opposition, the proceedings in both the houses, Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha are continuously being postponed. Last week also 14 opposition parties had a meeting regarding this, now once again the opposition parties are going to meet.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has called this meeting and the meeting will be held at the Constitution Club.
