Producer of ‘Jab we met’, Raj Mehta, granted conditional bail after 6.5 years

After nearly 6.5 years, Harshad Purshottamdas Mehta, more popularly known as Raj Mehta has received conditional bail from the court. Raj Mehta has produced many popular movies such as ‘Jab we met’, ‘Rockstar’ and Akshay Kumar starrer, ‘Blue’. Raj Mehta was arrested with three other directors along with his son. 

The executive directors of Ashtavinayak Cinevision who are the producers of Jab We Met’ and ‘Golmaal’ series, Rupen Amlani, Dhaval Jatania and Hiren Gandhi were released from jail in 2018 after serving a yearly sentence. The trio was imprisoned in Arthur Road Jail from May 10, 2017, for their alleged role in the Rs 824 crore scam involving misappropriation of public funds. Raj Mehta and his son Dhillin Mehta who is the managing director of Ashtavinayak Cinevision was also arrested along with them. They were jailed on April 15, 2015. Raj was 57 then and Dhillin was 33; Raj is 63 now and Dhillin is 39.

Now after nearly 6.5 years Raj Mehta is granted conditional bail. He will come out of jail either this evening or tomorrow.

Ashtavinayak Cinevision produced films like ‘Jab We Met’, ‘Golmaal’ series, ‘Rockstar’, ‘Kidnap’ and ‘Blue’ amongst several others.
