Taliban arrest attackers of one of the Sikh temples in Kabul

The radical Taliban movement that has seized power in Afghanistan has claimed to have arrested those responsible for the persecution of Afghan Indians living in Kabul. It was stated on Saturday by the representative of the radicals and the deputy minister of information and culture in the interim Afghan government Zabihullah Mujahid.

“All those who persecuted members of the Indian minority have been arrested by the Metropolitan Police and brought to justice,” he wrote on his Twitter page.

The Afghan Islamic Agency clarified, it is about attacks on one of the Sikh temples in the Karte-i Parwan quarter in the north of Kabul, where the Afghan Hindus and Afghan Sikhs live. According to him, a few days ago, as a result of the attackers’ actions on the territory of the religious building, CCTV cameras were severely damaged.

As per Sikh Press Association, on October 7th, over 15 armed individuals claiming themselves as Taliban officials attacked the Gurudwara Sahib in Kabul. They first tied the security guards of the Gurudwara, then broke all the security cameras during their attack.

In recent decades, the number of Sikhs and Hindus in Afghanistan has significantly decreased, and today it is no more than 0.3% of the total Afghan population (38.9 million people).

In India, too, the police under the Right-Wing Hindutva party-led Yogi Adityanath government has arrested the suspect who mowed down few Sikh community farmers during a protest in the Lakhimpur Kheri in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The suspect Ashish Mishra is the son of Union minister of state for home Ajay Mishra’ and is a member of Hindutva Party BJP.
