Taliban-controlled Afghanistan is facing protests against Pakistan. Hundreds of people, including many women, demonstrated in Kabul chanting slogans against Pakistan. This was reported by the Afghan broadcaster Tolo, according to which the demonstrators launched the slogan “Pakistan leave Afghanistan”, in reference to the possible support given by Islamabad to the Taliban, which in recent weeks have taken control of the country.
According to the correspondent for Sky News Arabia, the Taliban fired into the air to disperse the demonstration.
Taliban also detained Kabul activists demonstrating against Pakistan’s presence in their country, the Ashwaq news agency announced on Tuesday.
The Afghan agency posted a video on Twitter showing police and military vehicles taking away the detained activists while some shots rang out.
The news agency also reported that the radicals arrested several journalists who were covering the protests in Kabul. The TOLOnews TV channel mentioned that one of its cameramen was among those detained, while the channel’s Director Lotfullah Najafizada called on the Taliban to immediately release the journalist.
Balkh residents in the north also come out to the streets and protest.
