Met Gala, also referred to as the fashion world’s Oscar Night is an opening-night party and fundraiser for an annual fashion exhibit curated by the Costume Institute, the museum’s fashion department.
Every year there’s a theme for the clothes featured in the museum exhibit, which is also the dress code for the party. This year the theme is “American Independence” or In America: “A Lexicon of Fashion”. All the attendees attending the Met Gala have to provide proof of full vaccination. The attendees are also expected to wear masks indoors except while eating or drinking. This year’s unique theme witnessed some amazing looks and stunning outfits by these stars which gave us some major outfit goals.
From Kendall Jenner to Gigi Hadid these stars slew the look at the Red carpet. Here are the celebs who gave us some major outfit inspiration at the Met Gala 2021.
Kendall Jenner
Kendall Jenner made a dazzling entrance at the Met Gala event with her sheer Nude gown. She proved that sheer trend is here to stay. The gown was embellished with sparkling jewels and beads, fitting the gala theme “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.” Kendall wore a large choker necklace and kept her hair simple in a low bun. Kendall gave us some major outfit goals.
Billie Eilish
Billie Eilish stepped out for her first Met Gala in a blush pink tulle Princess gown by Oscar de la Renta. The gown had an enormous trail that gracefully draped over the stairs of the Met. Her hair was styled in a Marilyn Monroe-esque bob, and she wore Cartier jewellery.
Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello
Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello stepped out in style as a power couple. The two have been dating for two years and looked stunning together. Camila wore a purple sparkly crop top and skirt while Shawn flaunted his chiselled physique in an open leather jacket and black pants. Camila looked stunning in her purple eye makeup and beachy hair.
Gigi Hadid
Gigi Hadid was seen without her partner Zayn Malik this time. She looked drop-dead gorgeous in a black and white column gown with a thigh-high leg slit in the back and leather gloves. She tied her hair in a high red fiery retro style ponytail. Her pony was accented with a black and crystal Prada brooch at the base of the tail. Gigi’s makeup was just on point with cat winged eyeliner, powdery blue shadow, and matte, pinky-nude lipstick.
Justin Bieber and Haily Beiber
Justin and Haily arrived for their first Met Gala together as a couple in a glamorous way. The two looked amazing together. The couple opted for a twin outfit. Justin wore a dark suit with a Drew suitcase, while Hailey wore a black column gown with a plunging neckline from Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello. These two indeed gave us some major couple goals.
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck or Bennfer as fans call them made their second red carpet appearance together as a couple. Jennifer Lopez walked the red carpet in style. She was a vision in a Ralph Lauren ensemble with a thigh-high slit, faux fur wrap, and a cowboy hat, while Ben Affleck wore a suit. The couple was also seen kissing on the Red carpet.
Emily Blunt
Actor Emily Blunt looked like a Met Gala goddess with an iconic look inspired by Hedy Lamarr, the iconic actor and the star of the classic American fashion film, `Ziegfeld Girl`, which came out in 1941.
Emily never puts a foot wrong when it comes to fashion. She was a vision of beauty in her phenomenal semi-sheer gown and glittering headpiece. The floor-length garment was artfully adorned with crystal embellishment to protect her modesty and featured a billowing white cape that was attached to the dress.
Yara Shahidi
Yara Shahidi made her third Met Gala appearance. The actress looked stunning and gave us some major outfit inspiration. She wore an all-beige outfit which consisted of a strapless, beaded, floor-length dress with pockets which was paired with matching elbow-length gloves and a skinny satin belt. The dress was designed by Dior. For her jewellery, Shahidi wore a diamond necklace with striking yellow diamonds sprinkled throughout. Her headpiece had a similar diamond motif, and it was paired with a floor-length veil in the same colour as her dress.
