Former number one, Tiger Woods, champion of fifteen majors, is progressing in his rehabilitation. He is trying to improve and return to playing golf after the accident he suffered on February 23, said Steve Stricker, the United States captain for the Ryder Cup.
Stricker’s team will prepare for the duel against Europe starting on September 24. US team is looking at the possibility that Woods, 45, could join the delegation in a technical assistant role.
In April, Tiger Woods posted a photo on his Instagram social network. He appeared on crutches and smiled in the garden of his residence in Jupiter (Florida). A mall cast covering his right ankle was shown in public for the first time since Woods suffered a severe traffic accident on the outskirts of Los Angeles. The former world number one suffered multiple injuries to his right leg and foot in the accident, which occurred while on his way to a corporate event for a company he represents.
Woods, a 15-time major tournament champion, was hospitalized for nearly a month before returning home from Los Angeles in mid-March.
According to a police report, Woods was travelling at almost twice the speed limit on a dangerous stretch of highway. It was believed to be going over 80 miles per hour and hit a tree at 75 miles per hour.
The accident is the third traffic incident for Woods after having previously crashed in Florida while having marital problems that cost him a divorce.
He was later arrested after falling asleep on the road near his home and being under the influence of alcohol and the medication he was taking to control back pain, for which he had previously undergone surgery.
Woods’ accident came while he was recovering from a back operation he underwent on December 23, his fifth surgery in the same body area, which had already raised doubts about having been able to compete in the Masters.
