Alankrita Sahai, a model-turned-Bollywood star, was robbed at knifepoint on Tuesday at her leased home in Chandigarh’s Sector 27. According to accounts, three masked individuals forced their way into her residence on the second level of a three-story structure about 12.30 p.m.
According to indianexpress.com, Ketan Bansal, SP (City), “the victim belongs to the film business.” She was the only one in the house. The front door was unlocked. The thieves forced their way in and robbed the victim with a knife. We’ve opened a case and have some promising leads.”
Sahai had ordered some furniture, which had been delivered earlier in the day by several delivery men. According to the publication, the star believes one of the burglars visited her home during the delivery of furniture. She further told the cops that one of the thieves stole her ATM card and returned it after taking Rs 50,000. Two others were keeping an eye on her at the time.
Sahai shoved a suspect and locked herself in a room, according to The Tribune. The suspects then attempted to enter the room via a window. She then shut herself in the restroom. The assailants attempted to break the bathroom exhaust fan. Fearing for her life, the victim tossed Rs 6 lakh out of the room, and the suspects fled by jumping from the balcony, according to the newspaper.
They fell on the first-story balcony, then the ground floor, before fleeing. According to sources, suspects were captured on CCTV cameras deployed in the area.
Sahai is a beauty pageant winner who was named Miss India Earth 2014 in 2014. She is the first Indian to win seven Miss Earth crowns in the Philippines. In 2018, she made her acting debut in the Netflix romantic comedy film “Love per Square Foot.” She also appeared in the film ‘Namaste England’ the same year.
