Alleged pro Ukrainian Nord Stream saboteurs used Bavaria Cruiser 50 Yatch for transporting explosives

The model and course of the boat, which was reportedly used in preparation for the terrorist attack on the Nord Stream, was named by the German journal Spiegel.

The Andromeda sailing yacht with a home port of Brege on the island of Rügen allegedly has transported explosive devices, reports the publication, citing departmental sources.

According to Spiegel, the 15-meter Bavaria Cruiser 50 was chartered by unknown people through a Rügen charter firm. A photograph of the yacht was also included in the publication.

The Bavaria Cruiser 50 is a premium sailing yacht designed and produced by Bavaria Yachts in Germany. It is a high-performance cruising yacht with exceptional sailing qualities, comfort, and aesthetics.

The Cruiser 50 measures 15.57 metres (51 feet) overall, with a beam of 4.67 metres (15 feet, 4 inches) and a draught of 2.25 metres (7 feet, 4 inches). It weighs 16,996 kilos (37,481 pounds) and has a sail area of 129.9 square metres (1,398 square feet).

The boat features a big, comfortable cockpit ideal for relaxation and entertainment. A huge foldable table, a bimini top, and ample seats for guests are available in the cockpit.

The Bavaria Cruiser 50’s interior has a large layout. The boat has a full-sized galley, a spacious saloon, and four or five comfortable cabins that can sleep up to ten people.

Thanks to its strong engine and excellent navigation and communication equipment, the yacht is well-equipped for long-distance sailing and offshore crossings. It also has advanced safety measures such as a life raft, life jackets, and a fire extinguishing system.

According to the publication, the vessel left the port of Rostock-Warnemünde before mooring briefly at the port of Vik in the island’s north.

Earlier, the German federal prosecutor’s office informed RIA Novosti that it searched an unnamed ship from January 18 to January 20, 2023, concerning a dubious lease. The department confirmed that this ship might be used to convey explosive materials used to blow up the Nord Streams. According to the prosecutor’s office, there are no suspects among the personnel of the German corporation that leased the ship.

The New York Times earlier reported on information that a pro-Ukrainian organisation, whose aims were not necessarily known in Kyiv, was responsible for the suspension of Russia’s primary petrol supply route to Europe. In turn, the German publication Zeit said traces of the pipeline attack point to Ukraine. The Times also claims that Western intelligence is aware of the identity of the accused Ukrainian backer of Nord Stream sabotage.

In an interview with RIA Novosti, President Dmitry Peskov’s Press Secretary, Dmitry Peskov, characterised the revelations regarding the Nord Streams as a coordinated media stuffing. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov condemned the investigations.
