According to a report from the Aeroflot press service, the functionality of the Leonardo reservation system has been restored, and problems with check-in at airports have been resolved.
Earlier, the Aeroflot press office said that an issue with the Leonardo (Sirena-Travel) booking system made check-in difficult at airports on the airline’s route network.
According to the message, check-in at the airports that are part of the company’s route network is difficult since there has been a global malfunction in the reservation system used by Leonardo.
It has been brought to everyone’s attention that the service’s supplier is preparing to return the system to its usual state of operation promptly, the release stated.
While the system was experiencing the issue, Rostec, a state-owned firm, said it is actively working to counter a distributed denial of service (DDOS) attack launched against the Leonardo reservation system outside the country.
Leonardo, the Russian reservation system for airline tickets, was named after the famous scientist Leonardo da Vinci. On April 4, 2022, given the Western sanctions, Rostec declared its readiness to transition airlines to the Russian reservation system within twenty-four hours, which Sirena-Travel, a subsidiary of Rostec, developed.
According to the Rostec press service, the Russian reservation system was developed in two versions: the primary version for the gradual, planned transition of airlines and the backup version for emergency connection and assuring industry stability in the event of excesses. Within a brief timeframe, up to 24 hours, the fallback system is prepared for emergency transition mode. At the same time, all sales, e-commerce, service, and passenger check-in services will be seamlessly accessible at airports. Previously, Russian airlines used foreign reservation systems.
