Siriusly Sustainable! India’s MEHAIR to Assemble 50 Sirius Millennium Hydrogen VTOL Jets Under $400M Deal

-

Sirius Aviation AG, a Swiss aerospace company, announced the sale of fifty Sirius Millennium Jet orders to MEHAIR, an Indian seaplane operator. An additional 50 guaranteed orders are possible under the terms of the agreement, for a total of around $400 million. The aircraft is intended for a single pilot and five passengers.

The agreement calls for the establishment of final assembly lines for hydrogen VTOL jets in India, the development of franchise models for sales and after-sales support, the certification of Sirius Jet products in India, the development of a robust green hydrogen infrastructure nationwide, the design and operation of Verti-ports throughout India, and comprehensive training for Sirius Jet fleet operation and maintenance.

As the world’s first hydrogen-powered, zero-emissions vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft, the Sirius Jet is distinguished by its innovative hydrogen powertrain, quieter ducted fan engines, and high-speed capability. With a remarkable range of 1150 miles, eight times greater than that of conventional eVTOLs, and a speed of 323 mph, three times quicker, this cutting-edge Jet is poised to revolutionise air travel.

Per the terms of this agreement, MEHAIR will be responsible for the assembly of fifty Sirius Millennium Jets and one thousand four hundred Millennium Hydrogen Fan Jets. Additionally, twenty Hydrogen Generation Units and fifty Hydrogen Fuel Cell Powertrains will be integrated in India, thereby ushering in a new age of zero-carbon aviation.

Siddharth Verma, managing director of MEHAIR, remarked that the acquisition of Sirius Jet by India represents a momentous milestone for the country’s aviation industry, as it guarantees passengers low-emission, opulent travel. As an embodiment of dedication to technological advancement and environmentally sustainable aviation, it lays the groundwork for a more sustainable future in air travel, according to Sirius Aviation AG CEO Alexey Popov.

Sirius Aviation AG introduced the Hydrogen-Electric Ducted Fan Propulsion System for the Sirius Jet in Switzerland earlier this year. Prominent collaborators such as Sauber Group F1, BMW Group Designworks, Leonardo Aerostructures, and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) attended the event, highlighting the formidable synergy that propels the aviation industry forward.

Sirius will introduce two variants of the Jet by 2025: the Sirius Business Jet, which is optimised for individual usage, and the Sirius Millennium Jet, which is specifically engineered for commercial purposes.
