One man has been arrested by the Mumbai Police Crime Branch for allegedly manufacturing duplicate printer toners and passing them off as those made by well-known brands.
The group was found to be exporting duplicate toners to other countries such as Japan, Germany, Belgium, Spain, and England through e-commerce platforms. On Wednesday, based on a tip, officers from the crime branch’s Unit X raided a godown in Goregaon and discovered replicas of HP and Canon toners.
The duplicate toners confiscated were worth a total of Rs 2.69 crore. Vipul Sandha (32), the person at the godown, was arrested after an FIR was filed against him. Sandha has already been arrested for a similar crime, according to the officer.
The accused had been making and transporting these products abroad for over a year, according to their investigation.
