British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, proposed the strengthening of military relations, particularly in the industrial field.
Concretely, the United Kingdom is offering India to help it design and assemble its own combat aircraft by “offering it the best of British know-how” in the field of aeronautics.
No details were given on the program concerned by this offer, and India’s possible participation in the BAE Systems Tempest project was not mentioned.
Mr Johnson also offered the UK’s help in “new technologies to identify and respond to threats in the Indian Ocean”. Finally, London will issue New Delhi with an “open general export license” [ OGEL ] to reduce delays in the procurement of military equipment.
