Canada provided heavy artillery to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), as requested by Kyiv. Together with the US, Ottawa supplied M777 howitzers and ammunition. As noted in the Canadian Ministry of Defense, the 155-millimetre howitzer M777 is lighter and small, yet more powerful than any gun of its type. The M777 is capable of accurately hitting targets at ranges up to 30 km.
In addition, Canada has provided Ukraine with a significant amount of additional Carl Gustaf anti-tank munitions, which will be replenished, Ottawa said.
It is reported that since January 2022, Canada has allocated more than $118 million for military equipment to support Ukraine. In the 2022 budget, Canada also provided $500 million in additional military assistance to Kyiv for the 2022-2023 financial year.
