Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra had a huge argument when the crime branch raided their residence in connection with the pornographic racket case. Shilpa shouted at Raj, she said  “We have everything”! ‘What was the need to do all this”?

During a police investigation Shilpa Shetty got shattered and lashed out at Raj Kundra for destroying the family’s reputation after getting involved in the porn video racket. When Raj Kundra visited his home for the first time after spending days in jail, Shilpa Shetty broke down in front of the cops, she told her husband Raj that they have lost several endorsements in the industry, and the family is facing huge financial losses. She asked him what was the need of doing such things when they already had everything”. The Crime Branch team had to intervene between the couple to calm down Shilpa, the sources of Mumbai police added. The day the crime branch took Raj kundra to his Mumbai  residence for the searches, Shilpa Shetty was questioned too. Shilpa was very upset after the interrogation and said that she was completely unaware of Raj’s action. Kundra had kept her in the dark about the content of the app.

Raj Kundra was anticipating his arrest after the property cell of the Mumbai Crime Branch arrested nine people in the connection with the pornography racket case in March. Therefore “Kundra had changed his phone in March so that no data could be recovered. When Crime Branch officials asked him about his old phone, he told them he threw it away. Police believe that the old phone contains many important pieces of evidence and they are looking for it,” said sources. Reports claim that Raj Kundra earned Rupees 1.17 crore through the app in 5 months.

Raj Kundra’s controversial app “Hotshots” is at the centre of the investigation. The app, according to police, was removed from the Google Play Store for Android phones and Apple’s App Store, so the accused “activated Plan B” and launched another app, Bollyfame. The mobile phone app was available only to paid subscribers, and was used to upload pornographic content shot in Mumbai and the surrounding areas, the police claimed. The remand application added that the other accused and witnesses in the case have revealed that the pornographic films shot in Mumbai used to be transferred to Kenrin from where the obscene content used to be uploaded on Hotshots. Four of Raj Kundra’s employees have turned witnesses against him, sources have said.

The police claimed that it was through three WhatsApp groups – HS Accounts, HS Take Down and HS Operations – that Kundra used to monitor the content, payments to artists and revenue generated through the app and issue payments instructions and details. Bakshi used to make the payments based on Kundra’s instructions, the remand application added. The police’s application stated that three bank accounts – two of Arms Prime Media Pvt Ltd and one account of Avalanche Technology Pvt Ltd, having a total balance of over ₹1.13 crore – have been frozen.

Mr Kundra has filed a petition in the Bombay High Court, challenging his arrest in the case and calling for an “immediate release”. The petition claims that his arrest is “illegal”.

Raj Kundra and his aide Ryan Thorpe were denied bail by a Mumbai court today in a case related to the alleged production and distribution of pornographic content. The 45-year-old businessman’s bail application was rejected even as his lawyer questioned the basis on which the police were arguing, and asked: “Is the accused a terrorist?”

The Bombay High Court on Tuesday said it cannot pass any order granting urgent relief to businessman Raj Kundra, arrested in a case of alleged production and distribution of pornographic films through apps, without first hearing the prosecution.

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has imposed a penalty of Rupees 3 lakh on Shilpa Shetty, her husband Raj Kundra and their company Viaan  industries for violating insider trading rules. The company has filed a three year delay in a disclosure of an allotment of preferential shares. In reply to a notice from the regulator, Shetty and Kundra acknowledged the mistake and said it was not done with malafide intent. However, the SEBI adjudicating officer Suresh B Menon refused this explanation and imposed a fine, in an order on Wednesday.
