The German Ministry of Defense intends to purchase 60 heavy transport helicopters CH-47F from the American company Boeing, Bild am Sontag reported. The news of the large-scale purchase is headlined, “The government is arming the Bundeswehr against Putin.”
The delivery of the helicopter may cost Berlin 5 billion euros, but it will not take place before 2025-2026. Helicopters are expected to replace the obsolete CH-53G Stallion helicopters. Bild am Sonntag notes that these helicopters are 50 years old and in need of repair. German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht is expected to brief the Bundestag on the decision next week.
