Legendary Film star Dilip Kumar took his final breaths in Mumbai before passing away on 7th July. On this sad day for the late actor’s family, friends, and the entire film industry, a right-wing leader Arun Yadav took to his official Twitter account and tweeted in Hindi (as translated to English), “The death of Mohammad Yusuf Khan (Dilip Kumar), who earned money by keeping a Hindu name in the film world, is an irreparable loss to the Indian film industry! Deepest condolences to the bereaved family! God give peace to the departed soul.”
Replying to the tweet, the popular actress turned politician who joined Congress ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha election, Urmila Matondkar, wrote a caustic three-word tweet. “Shame on you,” she wrote.
While the entire Indian film industry and the entire nation mourn the unfortunate loss of such an iconic superstar, the right-wing leader saw this as an opportunity to ‘communalise’ the death of the actor.
In his Twitter bio, Arun Yadav mentions ‘Official Account of State IT & Social Media Head @BJP4Haryana Views & Videos Personal.’
Sharukh Khan, Anupam Kher, Karan Johar, Ranbir Kapoor, Dharmendra Singh, and other big names from the Film Industry paid a visit to the late actor’s residence to pay their respect and console the family of the deceased.
Actor Jeetendra, who shared screen space with the legend several times, also paid his tributes and extended condolences to the late legend’s wife and actress Saira Banu.
A legend himself, Jeetendra shares, “What can I say about this legend, Dilip Kumar Sahab, who showed us the way. Who showed us how it’s done, with so much grace and elan. He has been an inspiration to people like me who have aspired to be like him in every possible way.”
He further adds, “His love and warmth is unmatched and there will never be another like him. He was not just a genius on screen, but also a great friend and a gem of a person. His contribution to cinema and our lives is huge. I will miss him dearly. May he rest in peace. Condolences to the entire family and Sairaji.”
The news of the late actor’s death was made aware of by a friend of Dilip Kumar, Faisal Farooqui wrote on the actor’s official Instagram account, “With a heavy heart and profound grief, I announce the passing away of our beloved Dilip Saab, a few minutes ago. We are from God and to Him, we return”
