The M88 engine that powers Dassault Aviation’s Rafale fighter plane has passed the milestone of one million operating hours.
This engine has been in operation for more than two decades, and more than 600 have been delivered. Entering service in 2004 within the French armed forces, it equips the Rafale of the Air Force and those of the French Navy.
To date, 284 aircraft have been sold to 7 export customers: Egypt, Qatar, India, Greece, Croatia, United Arab Emirates and Indonesia.
‘The M88 has become the benchmark combat aircraft engine in Europe, thanks to its world-class performance, reliability and maintainability,’ emphasizes Jean-Paul Alary, President of Safran Aircraft Engines.
In order to meet orders, Safran Aircraft Engines will triple its production rate over the next few years.
