Italian club U.S. Sassuolo revealed today that its Spanish player Pedro Obiang has suffered from a viral lung infection.
“We inform you that the player Pedro Obiang was recently subjected to checks at the University Polyclinic of Modena, where a bronchopulmonary outbreak of a viral nature was detected.
“At the moment, for prudential reasons, it will be necessary to abstain from sporting activity, the duration of which will have to be assessed in the near future,” wrote the club on its website.
He is now excluded from the team’s group training a few days before the start of the Italian League championship for the new season.
Obiang, 29, played for U.C. Sampdoria and West Ham United F.C. before moving to Sassuolo in a deal worth 7.25 million euros in the summer of 2019.
