VAdm Vinod Pasricha (Retd) exclusively told Frontier India that at this moment, our weapon standard is not the best. There are certain weapons that we have managed to indigenize; for instance, the missiles that we have developed are perhaps the best in the world, but a lot of other equipment like our guns where the level of their capability is not good, particularly the ones that are radar controlled.

If we buy the technology for these and then develop them for ourselves, that would be a much better way. In the long term, maybe in 10-15 years, we would have become experts and not leave it to either importing the entire weapon system or trying to develop them on our own because both would be time-consuming and may not work.
